Half elves
Appearance
There is no standard appearance for half-elves. Since a half-elf is the result of joining an elf and a non-elf, many combinations are possible. Elves most frequently mate with humans or other half-elves. However, elves have mated with dwarves, hobbits, gnomes, and creatures of Faerie resulting in a very unusual mix of features. Elven women have also been raped by goblins, orcs, ogres, giants. However, no children have ever been conceived by these unisons or if that have, the child has been slaughtered by its mother as an abomination. Half-elves do age in accordance with the aging cycle of their non-elven parent. The aging process is always slower than normal for the non-elven race so that half-elves with a human parent live over a hundred years.
That said, half-elves that result from an elven and human pairing are generally five foot tall or higher. They often have black or brown hair. Their eyes can be green, blue, or brown; their ears often have rounded points or no points at all. Their build varies from slight to rugged and their complexion is fair, although some do have freckles. Nose, mouth, ears, and cheeks are often within the elven-norm but some human elements spill over occasionally.
Abilities
Some half-elves have the wisdom associated with their elven heritage. Most do not suffer from a lack of physical strength but do not gain the agility of their elven parent either.
Half-elves do have the ability to wield magic and must be trained to control it. Few make especially strong mages.
Some half-elves have a knack for music or the long bow. Most half-elves raised in sylvan settings will be able to live off the land as well as any other elf and will tend to protect nature against harm from other races.
